I’ve spent my entire adult life involved in some form of creative work. Yet what continues to motivate me is the simple experience of creating something from nothing. Starting with a blank canvas and watching an idea take shape. Seeing the spark of an idea take on a life of its own or the same idea taking me in an entirely new direction.

The studio offers a freedom unlike anything I experienced during my past years working in various creative fields. There are no assignments or deadlines. No expectations. And rarely a fixed idea of what the finished work will become. I have a myriad of options before I begin. I can follow an impulse, trust my intuition or make a deliberate choice. Change direction, experiment or abandon an idea entirely. My only requirement is to remain open to wherever the process might lead.

I’m not interested in limiting myself to any one way of making art. Over the years, my work has taken several different directions, but color, movement and composition have remained consistent throughout. The only change is how I decide to explore them.
