As a Hawaii based artist I aspire
to interpret what nature so effortlessly creates. With this series
of work I explore the movement of sky, sea and landscape. These
decidedly manipulated images are my interpretation of the colors
and natural beauty experienced on the island of Maui. I consider
this work a combination of painting and photography.
Ive always been interested in passing
cloud formations carried along by the trade winds of Hawaii.
These images explore the ever-changing movement between the viewer
and the view. While shape and color are always present speed can
easily turn ones vision into a single polychromatic blur
as a world that never stops appearing transformed.
The Island Time series is meant to remind
us of how movement affects ones ability to confine natures
splendor to one single image. In creating this work my hope is to
reconcile reality, time and motion.
